SURINAMESE PASSPORT

New procedure for passport applications & renewals (January 2026)
The Republic of Suriname implements e-Passports, which require biometric data, as of April 2025. For passport applications, an appointment must be made by sending an e-mail to sranan@sranan.cn. In the email, please provide the passport number, name of passport holder, cellphone number. The consular affairs section of the Embassy will reply to the email with the date and time of the appointment.

Please note that passports MUST also be picked up in person by the applicant at the Embassy in Beijing.

Passport Renewals

Persons older than 18 years:
(1) Must have the current passport which is  6-8 month valid. In case of lost/stolen: Please provide Police report in English & e-ID.

(2) Authenticated Birth certificate (only for those were born out of Suriname)

(3) Residence permit

Persons younger than 18 years:
(1) Must have the current passport which is  6-8 month valid.

(2) Birth certificate. If not born in Suriname, the authenticated birth certificate is required.

(3) Both parents present at passport appointment with e-ID cards. In case of single parent/guardian: Please provide Death certificate/Divorce certificate/Guardianship agreement.

(4) Residence permit

Note: it is encouraged to bring all relevant documents related to citizenship (such as birth certificate or family book) to the appointment to encourage faster processing

Passport photo

The passport photo will be taken at the embassy. Due to the light color of the background, please don’t wear in white, dark color will be suggested.

Payment

NO BANK TRANSFER TO THE EMBASSY ACCOUNT ANY MORE!

Payments can ONLY be made during the appointment via credit card at the embassy in Beijing.

Expedited processing can only be applied for the following cases:

  1. Medical declaration from a medical specialist indicating the applicant must travel for healthcare purposes
  2. Medical declaration from a medical specialist indicating the applicant must travel for healthcare purposes as a guardian
  3. Death certificate in case of travel for funeral services
  4. Letter from employer in case applicant must travel for work purposes
  5. Invitation from organization in case applicant must travel for conferences, seminars etc.
  6. Letter from educational institution in case of travel for study purposes
  7. Letter from sporting organization in case of travel for competition participation
  8. Flight ticket (including proof of payment) in case current passport expires before travel date or if passport needs to be valid for 6 months and it is not currently.
  9. Proof of visa application appointment
